Double Board-Certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology; Dr. Hilger is one of the few fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeons in the Twin Cities. In addition to his dynamic cosmetic practice, Dr. Hilger also serves as a Professor and Director of the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Minnesota. Moreover his respected leadership has been recognized nationally by serving as the President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and he has routinely been a speaker or director of international educational programs.

Having engaged with numerous specialty fields throughout his academic career, the unique characteristics of facial plastic surgery called him into practice became his focus and the combination of artistry, technical intricacy, broad scope of work, and the ability to enhance and restore appearance and function was incomparable.

After completing residency at the University of Minnesota, he was chosen as a fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Boston, MA and Harvard University.

Upon completion of his studies in Boston, the University of Minnesota recruited Dr. Hilger to return as its first fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon.

Dr. Hilger still relishes the legacy carried on by his fellows. He has trained 25 fellows who are now also leaders in facial plastic surgery and are faculty at leading institutions such as:

May 30th – 31st 2014 he was the Honored Guest Speaker and spoke on Rhinoplasty & Skin Cancer Reconstruction at the Charleston Magnolia Conference in Charleston, South Carolina.
