Varvara Kirchner MD

Varvara Kirchner, MD, is a transplant surgeon who cares for adult and pediatric patients in need of transplant surgery. Dr. Kirchner sees her patients at University of Minnesota Health Pediatric Specialty Care Discovery Clinic and University of Minnesota Health Clinics and Surgery Center. Her clinical interests include hepatobiliary surgery, liver/biliary surgery and living and deceased donor kidney and liver donation. Dr. Kirchner is also academically interested in research surrounding liver transplantation, hepatocellular carcinoma, islet transplantation, ischemia reperfusion injury and modulation of morphine receptors by long-term opioid therapy. In addition, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
