Bio

Stuart Amateau, MD, PhD, is a gastroenterologist who cares for patients with cancer and other disorders of the digestive system; treatments include endoscopy, pancreas surgery, total pancreatectomy and islet auto-transplant. He sees patients at M Health Fairview Clinics and Surgery Center - Minneapolis and the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center, where he also serves as director of endoscopy. Patient satisfaction is the ultimate outcome to which Dr. Amateau judges a successful intervention. In striving to provide the best care for his patients, he considers not only the specific problem but also the person as a whole, and includes the patient as part of the therapeutic team. Dr. Amateau is an associate professor of medicine in the University of Minnesota Medical School Department of Medicine’s Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. He also has appointments as an associate professor in the Department of Surgery’s Division of Gastrointestinal/Bariatric Surgery and in the Department of Pediatrics.
