Bio

 

Melena Bellin is a pediatric endocrinologist whose clinical focus is diabetes and growth disorders. Her treatments include total pancreatectomy and islet-auto transplantation. She sees general endocrine and diabetes patients at University of Minnesota Health Clinics and Surgery Center and University of Minnesota Health Maple Gove Clinics. Dr. Bellin is an assistant professor in the University of Minnesota Medical School with a joint appointment in the Department of Pediatrics and Department of Surgery. Her research focus is islet transplantation (transplantation of the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas) for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus and for patients who have their pancreas removed to treat severe chronic pancreatitis.
