Bio

Joanne L. Billings, MD, MPH, is a critical care physician and pulmonologist whose clinical work is focused on cystic fibrosis (CF). Her clinical interests also include bronchiectasis and ciliary dyskinesia. She sees patients primarily at the Center for Lung Science and Health in the University of Minnesota Health Clinics and Surgery Center. Dr. Billings is an assistant professor in the University of Minnesota Medical School Department of Medicine’s Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine and associate director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program. Like her clinical practice, the focus of Dr. Billing’s research is on CF, with a particular interest in women’s health issues in patients with CF. She investigates the impact of sex hormones on CF lung disease and lung function during the phases of the menstrual cycle in young women with CF. Dr. Billings is also a co-investigator in CF drug development studies at the University.
