Bio

Jakub Tolar, MD, PhD, is a pediatric blood and marrow transplant physician and current Dean of the University of Minnesota Medical School. He serves as the Co-Lead for the M Health Fairview joint clinical enterprise and as the Board Chair for University of Minnesota Physicians. In addition, he serves as the Vice President for Clinical Affairs and as the Campus Public Health Officer for the University of Minnesota.  He practices at the M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital in the Blood and Marrow (BMT) Unit and at the Pediatric Specialty Care Journey Clinic. Dr. Tolar maintains clinical research interests in gene and cellular therapies for the correction of genetic diseases. Dr. Tolar enjoys educating and mentoring new physicians and is active in many professional societies. He is a strong advocate for cooperation and communication within the clinical and research communities. Outside of work, Dr. Tolar spends time with his wife, children, and grandchild. He enjoys reading, listening to opera, kayaking, and crossfit training.
