Bio

Gary B. Fetzer, MD, FAOA, is an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Iowa. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Washington University at St. Louis and his sports medicine fellowship at TRIA Orthopedic Center in Bloomington, Minn. He started his practice in 2008. He is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery with a subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine. Dr. Fetzer has served as Program Director of the University of Minnesota/TRIA Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship Program since 2011.

Dr. Fetzer has been Team Physician and Medical Director of Athletics at Gustavus Adolphus College since 2008. He is an Assistant Team Physician for the Minnesota Wild Hockey Club and Assistant Team Physician for the Minnesota Twins Baseball Club.  His surgical interests include sports medicine and athletic-related injuries, and arthroscopic surgery including ACL reconstruction and meniscus and cartilage repair, rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, Achilles tendon repair, pectoralis repair, and hamstring repairs
