MINNEAPOLIS, MN- January 26, 2021 – Today, University of Minnesota Physicians (M Physicians) opens its relocated Broadway Family Medicine Clinic. For more than 40 years, the clinic has been serving the North Minneapolis community and will continue that commitment in a new space located at the northeast corner of Broadway and 26th avenues (2426 W Broadway Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55411) in the Jordan neighborhood.

The new clinic space is innovative, efficient and technology-forward, fostering an environment of learning and togetherness. The goal of the new space and clinic is to deepen connections within the community, which is reflected in the design of the space, the art featured in the clinic and the program components.

“Although we have moved locations less than two miles away from our previous site, we retain our ability to serve patients in the North Minneapolis community,” said Oren Avery, clinic manager at the M Physicians Broadway Family Medicine Clinic. “The clinic is meant to be a place of discussion, education, comfort and community.”

Some benefits of the new location include:

  • Convenient, stand-alone building with separate parking area
  • Close proximity to multiple transit stations and North Memorial Hospital
  • Multi-purpose community room

The clinic has an expansive, multi-purpose community room, which will be utilized to host community events in conjunction with the community advisory board.

To underscore the clinic’s connections to the North Minneapolis community, artwork created by local artists will be displayed throughout the space, not only to inspire the health care team as they work to support the community but also to inspire and comfort patients and their families.

“The North Minneapolis community is an integral part of who we are as Broadway Family Medicine,” said Kathryn Justesen, family medicine physician at the M Physicians Broadway Family Medicine Clinic. “The new space offers countless opportunities to engage with the community and helps us carry out our mission to provide exceptional health care to our community and top-of-the-line education to our residents.”

The new facility also has a dedicated teaching space for residents and trainees. In partnership with North Memorial Hospital, the clinic will continue to be home to the University of Minnesota Medical School’s North Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program. The goal of this new space is to enhance teachable moments, in hopes that they happen organically and frequently.
