Pete Mitsch, CPA, Chief Financial Officer for both the University of Minnesota Medical School and University of Minnesota Physicians (M Physicians), was recently selected by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal as one of the honorees for their esteemed CFO of the Year awards. A virtual celebration will be held Nov. 19 to recognize all of the honorees.
Nominees were evaluated by a panel consisting of other financial executives, who scored them on their contributions to the company and the community.
“I am incredibly honored to have been nominated by my colleagues at M Physicians and in the U of M Medical School for this award,” Pete said. “To be selected from among so many outstanding nominees around the state is truly humbling.”
In his 30 years of service, Pete has been a collaborative team member, trusted advisor and servant leader for both the Medical School and M Physicians. Additionally, he played a key role in the development of the joint clinical enterprise—M Health Fairview.
“We are deeply grateful for Pete’s service to the Medical School,” Jakub Tolar, MD, PhD, dean of the Medical School said. “He is both a trusted advisor and servant leader. With his loyalty to his teammates and the University, wry sense of humor, and warmhearted nature—he is truly one of a kind.”
“Pete is a true professional and esteemed colleague and well-deserving of this honor,” said Bevan Yueh, MD, MPH, interim CEO of M Physicians. “As CFO of the practice, he has guided us with sound and steady financial management, and his leadership has been critical this year as we navigate the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
