Bio

Suma Jacob, MD, PhD, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who cares for patients at University of Minnesota Health Masonic Children’s Hospital. Her clinical specialties include developmental disorders that affect rigid, inflexible behaviors and social functioning including autism, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety and selective mutism. Dr. Jacob is also an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry Center for Neurobehavioral Development at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Her research interests include social neuroscience, neuroendrocinology and genetics and her current research focuses on biomarkers, neurochemical/genetic risk and treatments related to hormonal systems like oxytocin.
