Bio

Andrea Westby, MD, is a family medicine physician who believes that true health and wellness occur when all aspects of a patient's health are addressed, including physical, emotional, familial, cultural and spiritual needs. She provides care and teaches full spectrum family medicine at North Memorial Medical Center and the University of Minnesota Physicians Broadway Family Medicine Clinic. Her practice encompasses maternal, child and family health, including breastfeeding and lactation; nutrition and lifestyle medicine; and holistic health. She cares for patients of all ages, cultures, and walks of life, and enjoys partnering with patients in medical decision-making, empowering them to take control of their health, and tailoring their care to meet their individual needs and wants. An Assistant Professor in the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, Dr. Westby was honored as the 2019 Family Medicine Educator of the Year by the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians. Her clinical interests also include practical nutrition and food justice, and eliminating health disparities, particularly around racial disparities and the use of race-based medicine.
